The Future of Google Display Advertising & Mobile Business is Now

Google continues the battle for the online display advertising market. But if some months ago I suspected that the impressive news from Google would come in late 2011, after having seeing their 2010 3Q results, I am convinced that they are about to gain momentum.

Google online display advertising properties include Youtube, Google display network and Doubleclick advertising exchange operations. Combining these three big areas with the mobile advertising market will give Google the dominance of the display advertising market that they have been pursuing for many years. Google mobile business includes mobile search, AdMob and mobile apps.

I believe that everything will change when you enter the home page of your favourite online newspaper and you see that the banner at the top of the page is served by a code from Doubleclick advertising exchange. This little step, which today is starting to happen in mobile online newspapers, will show us that Google has conquered the online display advertising market.

I would like to share with you some facts and figures from the Google 2010 3Q that show that Google is on track to reach their objective: Google Senior VP Jonathan Rosenberg told investors that the company is on a more than $2.5 billion run rate for non-text display ads, monetizing over 2 billion YouTube views per week and the mobile business is making a more than $1 billion annual run rate. And finally he said that the company does not intend to disclose this data every quarter, showing how confident they are about their success in the display advertising market.
